Editing on Medusa
"It's a tedious Job but someones gotta do it...and that someone is ME!"
The editing has been an important factor within the success of this animated film, having to tell the narrative through visuals and express and convey what I want with what I've animated, the editing helps me structure the film in what I need to add, remove or repeat - Throughout the animation you would see repeated footage each time with a different meaning depending on the part it is placed, within the animation. Other parts of editing have been technical issues and tweaking, having to re-align most of the footage to give it a smoother fluid motion, doing it manually using Final cut Express.
Editing can be a joyous experience even exciting, seeing all the different individual scenes you have animated come together on a long chopping board where you can cut and slice and rearrange resulting in the end the finished feature. But I felt like the editing can consume you especially if you happen to be the animator, you have to detach yourselves from the wonders of the 'animating process' think like an editor and see what fits and what doesn't even though it is a fantastic bit of subtle animation. A lesson I learnt last year, so I tired this year to be as ruthless as I could in the editing process of MEDUSA.

Promoting myself in the form of a Card

Promotional Material on Medusa
Designing and creating a DVD insert for my final film to be displayed in, using stills from the animation to produce an artistic cover - along with title, short blurb and a quote from the narrative.

(Below) 2nd design for DVD cover: Added detail which was needed for module
To go with my DVD cover insert, I have also designed a DVD disk containing the image of the Orb as I felt it would fit nicely within the disk shape.

Post-Cards on Medusa
Another promotional idea I had was creating post-cards of some of the imagery from the animation (as well as my contact details) and displaying them where my film would be show-cased, so the public could help themselves. Here are the designs for my freebie post-cards:
Promotional Clothing on Medusa
I wasn't too keen on creating promotional clothing for this type of animated film, however I thought I should see what a potential idea could look like and I am quite satisfied with the outcome - I went with a simplistic layout, not showing too much so it doesn't look crowded.
Playing on the gender roles - i've designed both male and female t-shirts with my images on them, more satisfied with this potential outcome.
As you can see the female shirt has a varied selection of the 'Medusa' character imagery and the male more of the "Patriarchal" zeus imagery.
I've also produced a few more designs focusing on single images from the animation.
For the female I've used the Orb still placing it around the stomach area - playing on position.
For the male I've used the torso again placing it within the area of the chest, playing on the context of the image and positioning.
I've also designed what the back of the shirts/tops would contain, my email being the main thing, to gain publicity and promote myself even more.
Promotional bags on Medusa
Using 100% cotton plain black bags, I've created a collage of all the varied stills from the Medusa animation to be printed onto the bags - as the continue promotional project in promoting myself and my animation.
Here is one example of what the designs would look like (below).
